Have you ever thought, “What do I want specifically?” I mean not just what will I be okay with, what would be nice in general but really put some time in to determine what exactly it is that you want?
I am sure you have. When you were a kid you did it all the time. You would, especially at this time of year, get your turn with the Sears Wish Book and you would dream away about the things in there that you wanted. You would think about how you would use them and envision yourself playing with them. You also would, if you were like me, prioritize them. In our house it was instilled in us at a young age that there was a finite amount of everything and one mustn’t ask for too much. One must prioritize and budget. Those are worthy ideas in some ways. However, when it comes to imagination and getting clear on what it is that you actually want, they are real buzz kills. We have to let go of those voices in order to really hear ourselves speak from the heart. Current budget and limits of any form hinder creative thinking like walls in a courtyard. It is your imagination, set it free! By definition it is play and so there are no limits!
You see, if you cannot imagine having something, the likelihood of actually obtaining that something is very low. Simply imagining it does not guarantee that you will get it but it sure goes a long way toward it. How about some productive daydreaming today? Ask yourself what you really want and then experience that thing in your mind with as much detail as possible. You are now closer to having it.
