The path of the entrepreneur is not the easy one. It is not the path less taken and for a reason. And when we are called to this path, we are fortunate, indeed.
The fortunate piece lies not in the challenges. Not directly, anyway. But in the learning and growth and unlimited potential that this road provides. Those challenges are like exercises that develop us as businesspeople, for sure, and even further and perhaps most importantly, those exercises develop us as individuals.
It is so easy to hide in a company job. I should know. I did it for decades. It is not so easy to do as an entrepreneur. In fact, it is death to your business if you do. The more you can be yourself and bring out your unique light, the more you will attract those that you are here to serve. The more you “blend in” the more competition you will have. The more you try to mirror what others are doing, the less likely you are to really make your mark.
I am not saying to reinvent the wheel on everything. Far from it! Success does leave clues and we can learn much more quickly and efficiently by following those clues. Business is science. And it is also art.
Get yourself a mentor that understands this and encourages this. Get yourself some support to find and promote your unique offer. Otherwise, it is a long ride on the sea of mediocrity.
